The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali won 1st place in the sands sculpture competition at the annual Bali Hotels Associations Sport and Cultures Carnival 2009. The Laguna team consisted of 5 persons; I Wayan Redana (Marketing Communications), I Wayan Sukariana (F & B Service), I Nyoman Yasa (F & B Production), I Ketut Sutarja (F & B Production) and I Wayan Suarna (Engineering Dept.).

The sands sculpture creation built by The Laguna’s team is a symbol of world peace by bringing “Peace on Earth” as title on the sands sculpture competition. The team made a creation of two doves holding a globe and replica of world peace hero from India, Mr. Mahatma Gandhi.

The competition took place at Nusa Dua beach as the sand in this area are smooth and great texture for sand sculpture. The Laguna’s team was competing with more 10 star-rated hotels and resorts in Bali where they also presented different creations.

As part of the community in Bali, The Laguna Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali is actively participating in number of community event both organized internally or within the association. Number of activities has been done such as; cleaning campaign, mangrove plantation, orphanage house charity visit, elementary school mentoring program, sport and cultures competition and many others.
